A bell schedule in Enriching Students is essentially a school's daily schedule. The bell schedule is based on the Student Information System periods. We import the period names from Clever or Classlink, whichever your school uses.
This is an important point, if there are no periods to import via Clever/Classlink, there's no way to create a Bell Schedule in Enriching Students. The manual work that would be required on the part of a school to map the periods to the different student groups would be too large. We have to be able to import the periods from Clever/Classlink.
A school can have multiple bell schedules. For example, if your school is on some type of rotating bell schedule, (where you have A, B, C, D, E & F days for example, with the same period being run at different times of the day), you can create a bell schedule for each of the day types.
Day Types
In order to set up Bell Schedules, you will first need to create one or more Day Types. Learn how to set up day types here. Enriching Students uses the Day Type associated with a Bell Schedule to know which Bell Schedule is active on a particular day.
This means at the very least, you will need to set up one Day Type. If you're not on any type of rotating schedule, just create a "Default" day type and assign it to every school day. Then, if you need any additional Day Types, you can create them when needed.
For example, you could start with a Default day type. Then you realize that you want a different bell schedule for "late start" days. You can create a Late Start day type, then create a bell schedule to support that day type.
Managing Bell Schedules
You can create and view your bell schedules on the Admin > Manage Bell Schedule page. Each bell schedule will be displayed here separately, and each period within that schedule will be listed with its SIS name, start and end time, and when passes will be allowed within that period (if that is something you have set).
Edit or Delete a Bell Schedule
To edit a bell schedule, select the Actions button next to its name, then choose Edit Bell Schedule. Here you can change the schedule name, the day type its associated with, the periods that are in it, and when passes can be issued.
To delete the bell schedule you would just select Actions > Delete Bell Schedule instead. Note: If you delete a bell schedule, your settings for when passes can be issued for these periods will also be removed.
Edit or Delete a Period
Editing and deleting a period is similar. Select the Actions button next to the period you wish to edit. Then choose Edit Period to adjust start and end times or when passes can be issued.
If you want to delete a period, choose Delete Period instead of edit.
