This page serves as a high level overview of the updates to the Enriching Students staff and student sites that are being released for December 4, 2023.

Student Site

We have created a Quick Request/Quick Schedule option for the students that is similar to the Quick Schedule feature for the staff.  Instead of having to move to the Schedule page, the students can create an appointment right from the Scheduled Courses page.  Below is what the feature looks like for a student with Requesting permissions.  It's identical for a student with Self Scheduling permissions with the exception of the REQUEST button reading SCHEDULE.

Homebase Department Names Cannot Be Changed

When a school account is created in Enriching Students, a Homebase department is created to track the Homebase courses.  Previously, a school could rename the department, which would cause issues when they changed the name to something that no longer indicated a Homebase usage.  For example, the department name would be changed to Math or Science.

To prevent any confusion, we no longer allow the name of the Homebase department to be modified.

Unassigned Department

There are times when a school wants to delete a department that contains staff.  The staff might be inactive or soft-deleted, making it hard to track them down and move them.

To that end, we've created a new Unassigned department.  This will only appear on the Admin, Manage Departments page.  It's sole purpose is to be a holding location for staff that haven't been assigned to any other department.  

So if you had a department you were no longer using, you could delete the department and the staff would automatically be placed into the Unassigned department.

The name of this department cannot be edited.  But again, it will only be displayed on the Admin, Manage Departments page.

Moving Staffers to New Department

The Admin, Manage Departments page now allows staff to be moved to other departments.  Click the Actions button and you see a View Staffers option.  From there you can select one or more staff and move them to a new department.  In the screen shot below, a staffer is being moved from the Business department to the English department.

Blocking Dates For School When Appointments Exist

When blocked dates are being created for the entire school, the process automatically clears the appointments for the selected dates/periods.  This makes sense, but it has bitten a few people when the wrong dates/periods are mistakenly selected.

To help with that scenario, the page now provides a count of the number of appointments for each date/period selected.

In the screen shot below, you see that 11/27/2023 is about to be blocked.  The page is showing the number of appointments for the selected dates and periods.

Additionally, because there is a date/period selected that has appointments, there is a message that is displayed indicating that appointments will be deleted.  If the Flex Block 1 Period had not been selected, the message would not appear.

Unscheduled Students Filter By Graduation Year

The Admin, Unscheduled Students page now allows the students to be filtered by Graduation Year.  The page is used the same way as before, select the date, period and the students appear.  However, in addition, the students can then be filtered by Graduation Year.
