We are releasing a new product! Check out Enriching Students School Events. We know many schools are bogged down with needing an app for every different task. So, we've added a way to create, sign up for, and handle check in's for staff and student events. Learn more below!
What Is An Event
In reality, an Event in Enriching Students is similar to an Appointment. However, there are several important differences to keep in mind.
- An appointment typically means the student "must" attend
- Events can be looked as being an invitation.
- Keep in mind that you can create events that require attendance.
- Events can be looked as being an invitation.
- Appointments are created with a specific set of students in mind, meaning one or more students must be selected when creating an appointment.
- Typically, events are created with the student or staff body in mind; meaning you don't have to select any users when creating an event.
- An example might be a prom.
- Typically, events are created with the student or staff body in mind; meaning you don't have to select any users when creating an event.
- Appointments can only be created on weekdays
- Events can be created for weekdays and weekends
- Appointments have to be associated with a Flex period
- Events are never associated with a Flex period
- And perhaps the biggest difference is this; in Enriching Students, only students can be scheduled to an appointment.
- Events can be created for students OR for staff.
Student Event Details
It's very easy to create a student event in Enriching Students.
Go to Admin, Manage Events. On this page, you'll see a list of both the student and staff events.
Click the create button, fill in the details and click save.
As we stated above, the basic idea behind a student event is the majority of the students will be attending. However, there is flexibility in this regard via this two options:
Allow Students - when this list is populated, only these students would be allowed to the event.
For example, you have a workshop that's going to be running on a Saturday and a limited number of the students are invited. Create the event and add the students to the Allow list.
Deny Students - this is the flip side of the Allow list. Imagine an event where all but a half dozen students are invited to attend. Instead of having to create a list of students that can attend, you can create the smaller list of students that are not allowed to attend.
Is There a Reason to Populate Both Lists?
The short answer is no, and this is something you are not able to do within Enriching S
- If neither list is populated, all students are allowed.
- If the Allow list is populated, only those students are allowed, so there's no need to populate the Deny list.
- Conversely, if the Deny list is populated, only those students would be blocked from attending. There's no need to add any students to the Allow list.
Below, see an example of what a student event listing would look like.
Staff Event Details
Staff events are identical to student events with two exceptions.
- They only allow staff to attend, not students.
- Staff can be made Event Managers, which allow them to check individuals in to the event.
- There is an Allow list, but no Deny list.
How Can This Be Used for Staff?
Imagine you have a series of workshops for the staff the week before school starts. You could create one or more events on different days that are for all the staff.
You could also create a series of workshops that are for specific groups of staff, perhaps breaking staff out by departments.
Below, see an example of what a staff event listing would look like.
