This document describes the updates that will be released in February of 2025 for both Enriching Students and Student Pass.
Bug Fixes
An issue with the staff quick scheduler existed where the increase seat count wasn't updating the UI properly. This has been addressed.
Error messages on different pages weren't clearing after a page was refreshed. This has been addressed.
The attendance page wasn't refreshing correctly under some rather unique circumstances. This has been addressed.
Quality of Life Issues
Many of the drop down fields throughout the site have been converted to "type ahead" fields, meaning you can type the value you're looking for and the list will filter down to the data you're looking for.
Auto Freeze Appointments
Currently, a school can freeze appointments for the current day. However, schools have requested the ability to freeze appointments at different times each day.
This release will support that request. Similar to what's done with the Student Self Scheduling Adjustor, this new feature will allow a school to use one of four different options on a day by day basis (Mon - Fri). Find this option under Admin > Configuration > School Settings > Freeze Appointments Adjustor.
Please keep in mind that admins are exempt from the freeze, they can always change an appointment. And in all cases, unscheduled students are not impacted by the freeze. Here are the options you can set for each day:
- Appointments Are Open All Day - when this option is selected, there is no freezing of appointments for the selected day.
- Appointments Are Open Between - when this option is selected, appointments are frozen for the selected day, except for the time frame selected. For example, a school might choose to allow appointments to be edited between 10:15 AM and 11:50 AM.
- Appointments Are Frozen All Day - when this option is selected, existing appointments cannot be adjusted for the selected day.
- Appointments Are Frozen Between - when this option is selected, appointments can be adjusted except during the time frame set by the school. For example, a school might choose to freeze appointments between 8:15 AM and 9:25 AM.
Please note: the prior approach to freezing appointments is no longer supported.
Prevent Students From Commenting
Some schools are finding the ability for students to provide a comment when creating/requesting an appointment is being abused. For that situation, we've created a new option on the Admin > Configuration > Student Settings page to Prevent Students From Commenting. Checking this box and saving will make this a school-wide setting.
If the Prevent Students From Commenting is selected, the configuration value Student Must Provide Comment is automatically deselected. And of course, if the Student Must Provide Comment is selected, the Prevent Students From Commenting will be deselected.
Student Pass
Configuring When Open Passes Should Be Auto Returned
A school can now determine if a student pass should be automatically returned after the pass has expired. Go to Admin > Configuration > Student Pass > Pass Settings and set a value for the Auto Return Student Pass option.
If the value is set to 0, the pass will not be automatically returned. Any value greater than 0 means the student pass will be returned that many minutes after the pass has expired. For example setting it 5 means the pass will be returned 5 minutes after it expires.
There is a process that runs every two minutes on our servers that checks to see if there are any open passes that are eligible to be auto returned. So the auto return might take up to an extra minute longer to return the pass. The purpose of the process isn't to have the pass instantaneously returned, but to make sure the passes are returned in a timely, hands-free manner.
Staffer Is Notified That A Student Pass Request Is Available
When a student requests a pass, the staffer who is set to approve the pass will receive a notification message using the Enriching Students messaging system.
Like any other message, a staffer can mark the message as having been read. However, once a request has either been approved or rejected, the message will no longer appear.
